I managed The power of things project with the Flinders University Art Museum. We drew from the unique collection of over 8,000 objects to explore object-based learning (OBL) as an adaptive skills-based strategy in partnership with educators to prepare graduates for employment success. Objects offer myriad starting points to deepen engagement with discipline-specific knowledge as well as opportunities to enhance observational, cross cultural as well as other skills.
In addition, the project gave confidence to educators to work with cultural material with which they may not be familiar, and promoted university museums as dynamic sites of transdisciplinary learning. The work continues to contribute to emerging pedagogy in this area internationally. Read the summary Achievements Statement and Final Report.
